Students at Southern Grove Primary School have started the school year in brand new facilities following the completion of the second stage of works.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today officially opened the $17.5 Million facilities.

“Students and families are already enjoying the modern facilities at the new Southern Grove Primary School.” Minister for Education and Training Sue Ellery said.

“I am proud to officially open this fantastic school that will provide students with every opportunity to achieve.”

While early childhood facilities opened last year, the school in Southern River has this week welcomed about 270 students from kindergarten to Year 6.

Students will benefit from modern facilities including an inclusive education room, an art/craft room, a music classroom, a library and an administration block with an adjoining dental therapy centre.

“As a father and former teacher in the area, I know that families with young children in Southern River will be part of a school where children can start their primary education in a world-class learning environment.” Southern River MLA Terry Healy said.

Impressive new school with architecturally designed nature playgrounds will allow for specialist classes in music, physical education and Auslan as well as encourage play-based learning.
