Yamba is set to benefit from enhanced vocational education and training opportunities with the New South Wales Government announcing the construction and establishment of a permanent TAFE NSW presence which is a first for the community.

Minister responsible for TAFE NSW Adam Marshall joined Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis to formally commence the construction of a state-of-the-art $5.88 Million TAFE Connected Learning Centre (CLC) in Yamba, with the pair turning the first sod of soil onsite.

Minister Marshall said the new facility would be great for the area, empowering students with greater education and training opportunities than ever before.

“This new $5.88 Million TAFE Connected Learning Centre will transform education delivery in Yamba and across the Lower Clarence Valley region.” Minister Marshall said.

“For the first time ever students in Yamba will be able to access TAFE’s world-class education locally, ensuring they receive the training they need to become job ready and meet the skills needs of their local community.”

“New South Wales Government is committed to strengthening TAFE’s presence across rural and regional New South Wales and I am absolutely delighted this new facility will provide better access to education for students and help produce more skilled workers in the area.” Minister Marshall said.

Mr. Gulaptis said the new TAFE centre would make a real difference to the local community.

“Future Yamba CLC will equip students with the skills, knowledge and connections to employers needed to support our local economy.” Mr. Gulaptis said.

“Local residents have been calling for expanded educational opportunities for a long time and today I am thrilled the New South Wales Government has listened to that message and established a permanent TAFE NSW presence here in Yamba.”

Yamba CLC is one of 14 CLC’s being rolled out across the State.
