Man Charged With Reckless Wounding – Newtown
A man will appear in court after a woman was struck by a glass in an incident in Sydney’s inner west overnight.
About 11.20 pm a group of people were drinking at licensed premises on King Street at Newtown when an altercation allegedly occurred between a 27-year-old Bradbury man and another man.
During the altercation Police will allege that the 27-year-old threw a glass which struck a 26-year-old Woodbine woman who was standing nearby.
The woman suffered a large laceration to her head and a cut to her finger. She was treated at the scene by Paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment.
The 27-year-old man left the scene prior to the arrival of Police.
Police searched the area and located the man in nearby Wilson Street. It will be alleged that the man struggled with Police when they attempted to arrest him.
The man was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding and resist/hinder Police.
The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Newtown Local Court on Tuesday 16 February.
