Police Seize Three Cars After Hoons Caught Street Racing – Wollongong

Three men will be without their cars for three months after Wollongong Police confiscated them for alleged street racing at Springhill yesterday.

About 9:35 pm, officers from Wollongong Highway Patrol allegedly detected a Toyota Supra, Nissan Skyline and Holden Commodore street racing, North along Springhill Road at Springhill as they headed towards a Police Random Breath Testing site.

Police will allege that the three cars reached speeds of up to 140km/h in a sign-posted 80km/h zone before all three drivers were stopped at the RBT site.

A 22 and a 23-year-old man, both from Albion Park, as well as a 32-year-old man from Mount Keira were issued with court attendance notices for the offence of street racing.

All three men are expected to appear at Wollongong Local Court on the 2 February.

The three men were also issued with vehicle confiscation notices and had their vehicles confiscated and towed to a Police holding yard.

The three high-powered vehicles will be kept by Police for 90 days.
