Man Serious, Two In Court Over Assault – Dee Why
A man remains in a serious condition after allegedly being kicked in the head during a violent assault at Dee Why yesterday morning.
It is believed that the 30-year-old cleaner was on his way to work when he was allegedly attacked by two males in Howard Avenue about 4.30 am.
A witness told Police he saw a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth grab the victim from behind and punch him in the head and body before kicking him in the head after he fell to the ground.
Police were alerted and within five minutes arrested the two alleged offenders.
They were taken to Dee Why Police Station and each charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, and recklessly cause grievous bodily harm in company.
Both were refused bail; the man is due to appear in Manly Local Court while the youth will appear in Bidura Children’s Court later today. Both are from Dee Why.
The injured man, also from Dee Why, remains in Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition. He is being treated for fractures to his eye sockets and cheeks, and bleeding to the brain. He is also suffering extensive swelling, lacerations and bruising.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Howard Avenue or the Dee Why arcade car park between 4am-4.45 am, and have information relevant to this inquiry, to contact Police at Dee Why Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 00.
