Timber Bridge Refurbishments In The Wheatbelt

- Contract awarded for refurbishment of six timber Wheatbelt North bridges
- $575,349 contract awarded for bridge works
Transport Minister Troy Buswell today announced that a contract valued at $575,349 for the refurbishment of six timber bridges in the Wheatbelt North region had been awarded to Roadswest Engineering Group WA Pty Ltd.
“The works will involve bridge strengthening and other improvement works on bridges across the north Wheatbelt.” Mr. Buswell said.
“The State Government is committed to improving the safety of country roads and bridges, and has made an unprecedented investment in Western Australia’s regional roads, making them safer and more efficient for all West Australians.”
The refurbishment works on the bridges are located on:
- Northam-Pithara Road
- Telegraph Road
- Frenches Road
- York-Tammin Road
- Warding Road
- Muluckine Road
The Minister said the necessary works would improve the condition of the road network within the shires of Goomalling, Toodyay, Northam and York and safety for all road users.
“These refurbishment works will increase the service life of the bridges and decrease their overall maintenance costs.” Mr. Buswell said.
Works are scheduled to be completed by late May 2013.
