Woman Arrested Following Alleged Murder Of Elderly Woman At Epping – Homicide Squad
Homicide Squad detectives have this morning arrested a woman following the alleged murder of an elderly woman at Epping last month.
About 5am today, Police attended a unit block on Gaza Road at West Ryde, where they arrested a 26-year-old woman.
She was taken to Ryde Police Station where charges are expected to be laid.
Today’s arrest relates to the discovery of a 72-year-old woman deceased at a home on Cooke Way in Epping on 19 November.
The 72-year-old woman has been identified as Nancy Brayshaw.
Initial reports received by Police also indicated a possible sexual assault of a 26-year-old woman in the home.
Police have no information to suggest that a sexual assault occurred.
She was taken to Ryde Police Station where she was subsequently charged with six offences including the following:
- Obtain benefit by deception (x4)
- Knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime
She was refused bail and will appear at Ryde Local Court today.
Strike Force Stockwell comprises detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad with assistance from Eastwood Local Area Command, and was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
