Three Men Arrested During Operation By Heavily Armed Police

Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad detectives with the assistance of heavily armed Police have this morning arrested three men during search warrants across Sydney’s South-West in relation to kidnapping and extortion offences.

About 6 am today, an operation was conducted by officers from the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad Target Action Group (MEOCS TAG), along with heavily armed Police from the Tactical Operations Unit, Public Order Riot Squad, PolAir, and Highway Patrol.

Search warrants were conducted by Police at three homes at Simmat Avenue at Condell Park, Queen Street Auburn, and Beamish Street Campsie.

Three men have been arrested including a 40-year-old man at Condell Park, a 37-year-old man at Campsie, and a 27-year-old man at Auburn.

All three men have been taken to Bankstown Police Station where they currently remain. Charges are expected to be laid.

Today’s arrests follow investigations by Police in relation to alleged kidnapping and extortion offences against a 37-year-old man.

On Thursday 7 January, a 37-year-old man attended the home of a 40-year-old man at Condell Park, where he was allegedly threatened by the 40-year-old man before another two men aged 27 and 39 arrived at the home.

The 37-year-old was allegedly assaulted and detained in the house by the men while being threatened with violence if he failed to pay them a large sum of money.

Officers attached to the State Crime Command MEOCS TAG, have been investigating this matter since January this year.

Anyone with information about similar offences is urged to contact detectives via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
