Police Appeal For Information Following Club Robbery – Wauchope

Port Macquarie Detectives are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a Wauchope club earlier this month.

About 9.30 pm on Monday 7 December four males, armed with a tomahawk and rifle, entered the club on King Street at Wauchope

Staff members, who were preparing to close the club, were threatened as the men demanded money from them.

Employees were taken to the safe and ordered to remove cash while other members of the group tried to remove cash from the poker machines.

The quartet left the club with a quantity of cash and coins.

All of the men, who kept their faces covered during the robbery, have been described as being of Aboriginal appearance and aged in their early 20’s.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who might have information on the robbery to contact them through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Mid North Coast Local Area Command Crime Manager Detective Inspector Steven Clarke said Police were particularly interested in speaking with anyone who might have information about people displaying unusual spending habits and buying things mainly with $1 and $2 coins.

Police are also asking owners and staff of licensed premises to be vigilant with their security and handling of cash upon their premises during the busy Christmas and New Year period, particularly around closing times.
