Two Men Charged Following Shooting – Warwick Farm
Police have charged two men after a man was shot and another assaulted during an altercation at Warwick Farm, in Sydney’s South-West.
About 3 pm yesterday (Thursday 4 February), Police and Paramedics attended a unit complex on Lawrence Hargrave Road after receiving reports a man had been shot.
It will be alleged 39-year-old man was approached by two men and an altercation occurred before they assaulted him, causing facial injuries.
The offenders then chased the man through the courtyard of the complex.
A 41-year-old man who came to the assistance of the victim was shot in the foot by one of the men who were armed with a handgun. He was taken by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.
Two men were arrested at the scene and taken to Liverpool Police Station where they were questioned over the incident.
A crime scene was established and a canvass of the surrounding neighbourhood undertaken. A ballistics dog was also brought in to examine the area.
A 31-year-old Warwick Farm man was subsequently charged with causing grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
A 31-year-old Prestons man was charged with:
- Causing grievous bodily harm to person with intent;
- Discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm;
- Firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons/property;
- Destroy or damage property.
Both men have been refused bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court today.
Investigations into the incident are continuing and Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the altercation and/or shooting to contact Liverpool Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
