Western Australia Minister for Lands Brendon Grylls

EOI Opens Soon For The Waterfront At Albany Hotel Site

Victor P Taffa

Western Australia Minister for Lands Brendon Grylls has announced that the formal marketing process for the hotel site at The Waterfront at Albany will commence within the next few weeks.

Mr. Grylls, who was in Albany today to view progress at The Waterfront at Albany, said expressions of interest (EOI) would seek submissions for a four-star or higher hotel and short-stay serviced apartments.

“LandCorp has been working closely with Tourism WA on preparing for the hotel EOI to help bring the opportunity to the attention of quality developers and hotel operators with proven track records.” the Minister said.

“Given the prime location of the site in the world-class new Waterfront at Albany development, a premium hotel would be a great outcome for the city and the State.”

Design guidelines for the site will include:

  • Stipulating orientation,
  • Height,
  • Parking,
  • Construction material.

Once the site is sold, the developer would have a set time frame to commence development of the buildings and to complete the development.

If the hotel site attracts strong interest resulting in a timely sale, then it is possible the construction of the hotel could begin by early 2012, but these are indicative timelines only and are dependent on a number of factors.

Civil works for stage two, which includes the hotel site, are anticipated for completion in early 2011.
