Tassie’s Tourism Success

More visitors are exploring Tasmania than ever before, and last financial year, they spent a record $2.5 Billion, Premier Will Hodgman said.

Tourism Tasmania’s annual report confirms our plan for visitors to see more of our State, and spend more while they are here is working. In fact, we have already smashed the visitor expenditure targets set under our plan.

Report highlights a number of successful initiatives and campaigns in 2018-19, which have contributed to this tourism success.

Our marketing campaigns encouraging more tourists to visit over winter and shoulder seasons, and the Love Autumn in the South campaign, have supported the bushfire-affected communities of the Central Highlands, Derwent and Huon Valley.

We have launched a new initiative to promote Unordinary Adventures, encouraging visitors to explore regional areas, with a focus on world-class Tasmanian experiences like mountain biking, golf, walking and fly fishing.

With an eye to the future, we are now working with our great tourism industry to develop the next stage of the T21 Strategy to guide the next chapter of Tasmania’s tourism success story.

“Tourism is one of Tasmania’s greatest strengths, supporting 42,800 jobs across the State, and my Government remains its strongest supporter.” Premier Hodgman said.
