Vic Premier Backs Hawks In Wager With WA Premier

Victorian Premier Denis Napthine has struck a wager with Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett over the outcome of the 2013 AFL Grand Final between Hawthorn and Fremantle on Saturday.
Dr. Napthine said if Fremantle managed to upset Hawthorn, he would reluctantly put on a Fremantle jumper and hand out Western Australian tourism brochures for an hour at Federation Square.
“Only of course if Mr. Barnett agrees to don a Hawthorn jumper and hand out Victorian tourism brochures at the Hay Street Mall in Perth when Hawthorn beat the Dockers on Saturday.” Dr. Napthine said.
“I’m pleased that Colin has accepted my challenge and while I expect Saturday’s match to be a tight contest, I look forward to Hawthorn securing Victoria as the rightful home of the 2013 AFL Premiership Cup.”
“The Hawks have the upper hand against Fremantle, winning four of their past five encounters, they are also far more comfortable playing at the MCG in front of blockbuster crowds.”
“Fremantle has had a fantastic season but Hawthorn has been the competition standout all year. Unfortunately for Mr. Barnett, I just cannot see Fremantle overcoming our Victorian team on Saturday.”
Dr. Napthine also tipped fellow South West Victorian and Hawthorn captain Luke Hodge to win the Norm Smith Medal.
“Luke Hodge is a fantastic leader and one of the most courageous players in the AFL. He regularly stands up in big games, which is why I think he’ll add a second Norm Smith Medal to his trophy cabinet on Saturday.”
“Mr. Barnett will be in Melbourne for the Grand Final Parade tomorrow and I will be there to greet him with a box of Victorian tourism brochures for him to take back home.”
“I look forward to seeing a significant boost in the number of Western Australians visiting our great state as a result of Mr. Barnett’s efforts to promote the wonderful tourist attractions Victoria has to offer.” Dr. Napthine said.
Dr. Napthine has tipped Hawthorn to win by 5 points.
Hawthorn has won 10 Premierships whereas Fremantle are yet to win a Flag.
