Liberal Comfortable Or Safe Held Districts That Fell At Victoria State Election 2018

Victor P Taffa

In what can be described as Shock Election Results the Liberal Party has lost Districts that were held with comfortable or safe margins.

Most of the Districts that were lost are in the parties’ blue-ribbon eastern suburbs seats.

Other seats that were held by the Liberal Party saw margins slashed to the point of the party being lucky to hold onto them.

Reasons for the losses are numerous however Level Crossing Removals started by the Andrews Government was given a vote of endorsement throughout the electorate.

Many level crossings that have been removed are in seats that Labor won. People have found it so much easier to get around without the level crossings.

This should be a salutary lesson for the Liberal Party that many if not all of these seats lost will not be won back easily at the 2022 State Election as many more level crossings will be removed between 2018 and 2022.
