Today, in the first sitting of the eighth Assembly, Mrs. Vicki Dunne was elected as Speaker of the ACT Legislative Assembly.
Mr. Seselja said this is a significant achievement for both Mrs. Dunne and the Canberra Liberals.
“I am very proud to not only lead the biggest Liberal Party Room in the Territory’s history, but also for a member of our team to be given the opportunity to serve as Speaker of the ACT Legislative Assembly.” Mr. Seselja said today.
“I have served alongside Mrs Dunne for two terms, and having observed her in her time before that, it is a well deserved recognition of many years of selfless service for the people of Canberra and in particular those of Ginninderra.”
“Mrs. Dunne has been Assistant Speaker since 2008 and her new role as Speaker is a reflection of her experience in public office and her expertise in parliamentary process.”
“I look forward to Mrs. Dunne increasing the standards and profile of the ACT Legislative Assembly within Canberra’s community and I wish her well.” Mr. Seselja said.
