The Hon Alan Hunt AM
Victor P Taffa
I was saddened by the news of Alan Hunt’s passing, and convey my sincere condolences to his family at their loss, Premier Denis Napthine said.
“On behalf of all Victorians, I pay tribute to the outstanding contribution Alan made to our community as a former Minister and President of the Legislative Council.”
“Alan was a Minister in the Bolte, Hamer and Thompson Governments, holding a range of portfolios, notably Local Government and Education.” Dr. Napthine said.
“However, it was his contribution as Planning Minister that will be best remembered by the Victorian community.”
“His work in this area was recognised several times by professional planning bodies and he was made an honorary Fellow of the Royal Australian Planning Institute.” Dr. Napthine said.
“Alan was also Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council and went on to serve as President of that chamber from 1988 to 1992.”
“Alan was an exceptional Parliamentarian, respected on all sides of politics, and served the people of Victoria with esteem for more than 31 years in the Legislative Council.”
“Mr. Hunt was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1992 for his service to the Victorian Parliament.” Dr. Napthine said.
