New Era For Road Safety Research In Western Australia

- UWA awarded $4.6 Million, 5-year contract for a Western Australia road safety research centre
- Western Australian Centre for Road Safety Research to deliver extensive program aimed at reducing road trauma in Western Australia
State Government has awarded The University of Western Australia (UWA) a 5-year, $4.6 Million road safety research contract.
“I congratulate The University of Western Australia on being awarded this crucial road safety research contract that is designed to save lives on Western Australia’s roads.” Minister for Road Safety Michelle Roberts said.
“UWA bid demonstrated the university’s capacity to conduct cutting-edge research in a field of critical importance to us all.”
Road Safety Council has tasked UWA with establishing the Western Australian Centre for Road Safety Research, to conduct planned and reactive research programs to reduce road trauma in Western Australia.
Road safety research program is developed by a multiagency committee that is supported by the Road Safety Council and the Road Safety Commission.
Curtin Monash Accident Research Centre has held Western Australia’s road safety research contract since December 31, 2014, which will expire on December 31, 2019.
