Tasmania Opposition Leader Will Hodgman
URS Report Must Be Released Before Budget Is Voted On

The Premier must release the URS report into Forestry Tasmania before the budget is voted on next week, Opposition Leader Will Hodgman said.
“Ms. Giddings is playing semantics on this if she won’t release the final report because she hasn’t yet “formally” received it (even though she clearly knows what it says), she should release the draft report.”
“After a week of Budget Estimates, it is still unclear exactly what the $110 M for Forestry Tasmania in the budget is for and the government has refused to clarify this allocation.” Mr. Hodgman said.
“The Premier is asking Parliament to vote through a $110 M blank cheque which she can then use to do whatever she likes to Forestry Tasmania thereby avoiding Parliamentary scrutiny of her plans for Forestry Tasmania, and giving the Greens a get out of jail free card on the issue.”
“We will have no part in that. The Premier must release the URS report and detail exactly what the money is for before we vote on the budget.”Mr. Hodgman said.
“If she won’t, she should remove the $35 Million appropriation from this year’s budget and seek a separate appropriation when she can explain exactly what the money is for.” Mr. Hodgman said.
