Upwey High School will be able to get on and plan a more exciting future, thanks to funding from the Andrews Government.

Minister for Education and Member for Monbulk James Merlino today announced that the school will now be able to get started on the planning necessary to upgrade and modernise its school buildings.

This includes upgrading and modernising school buildings, additional basketball courts, a new performing arts centre and home for the Dandenong Ranges Music Council, and relocating the schools administration facilities.

“Upwey High School is a great school and I know it’s planning an even more exciting future.” Minister for Education James Merlino said.

“I look forward to seeing the outcomes of the planning work, and working with parents and families to ensure Upwey High School continues to go from strength to strength.”

The additional basketball courts will deliver a new home base for local clubs.

Detailed planning work is the first step towards future upgrades at Upwey High School.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to support Upwey High students, local sports clubs and the Dandenong Ranges Music Council by creating a unique education, arts and sporting hub.” Mr. Merlino said.

By funding more planning, more upgrades and building more schools, the Andrews Government is making Victoria the Education State.

The 2016/17 Victorian Budget includes $12 Million for school planning across our state, with Upwey High School one of 34 schools to receive funding.
