Toyota AFL Week 1 Finals Series Season 2019

Record Gabba Attendance As Richmond Demolishes Brisbane

Victor P Taffa

Richmond Tigers has demolished Brisbane Lions in front of a record attendance at the Gabba in the First Semi Final to advance into its 3rd consecutive Preliminary Final.

Dustin Martin led the way for the Tigers by kicking 6 goals followed by Riewoldt 3, Rioli 2, Lynch 2, Caddy 2, Edwards, Bolton, Castagna.

Richmond won by 47 points and kept Brisbane goal less in the 2nd quarter.

Richmond at the start of season 2019 could have finished in last place after Full Back Alex Rance had to undergo knee surgery that ended his season.

Legendary forward Jack Riewoldt missed many matches through injury and the 3-time Coleman Medal winner kicked only 16 goals for the Home and Away Series.

Without sounding arrogant or complacent, Richmond are playing in better form than the Premiership Year of 2017.

Richmond in defeating Brisbane have now won 10 matches in a row and are now just 1 win away from a Grand Final and 2 wins away from a 12th Premiership.

West Coast v Essendon

West Coast defeated Essendon easily by 55 points.

Geelong v Collingwood

Geelong went down to Collingwood by 10 points at the MCG. From Round 1, Geelong had looked invincible yet failed to live up to early season expectations against Collingwood.

Greater Western Sydney v Western Bulldogs

Western Bulldogs went down to Greater Western Sydney by 58 points.
