Northern Territory Minister for Tourism Matt Conlan
Red Centre To Be New Tourism Hub
Victor P Taffa
Minister for Tourism Matt Conlan today announced Tourism NT will be relocating to Alice Springs as part of the Mills Government’s plans to revitalise tourism in the Northern Territory.
Mr. Conlan said the relocation of Tourism NT to Alice Springs will create a vibrant tourism hub in the Red Centre and will help to revitalise regional and remote tourism.
“Central Australia is a famous international tourism destination and boasts a 365 day a year tourism industry.”
“The Red Centre is also home to some of the Territory’s most popular tourist attractions like Uluru and relocating Tourism NT to Alice Springs will help to increase the dwindling tourist numbers we have seen over the last decade.” Mr. Conlan said.
“A component of Tourism NT will continue to be based in Darwin and I am currently working with Tourism NT to determine the details and how this will be implemented.”
“I am committed to returning tourism to a top priority of government and I will work hard to ensure tourism once again becomes a major pillar of the Northern Territory economy.” Mr. Conlan said.
