Tasmania Opposition Leader Will Hodgman

Labor-Green Government Loses Tourism Investment

Victor P Taffa

It’s telling that Premier Giddings is prepared to see a $20 million development fail simply because she is captive to the anti-everything Greens, according to Opposition Leader Will Hodgman.

“The Remarkable Lodge development is the sort of development Tasmania needs. It would have created jobs, it would have attracted tourists and it would have shown investors and developers that we are serious about being open for business. Not content with shutting down the forest industry, the Labor-Green Government is blowing opportunities for the tourism industry.”

“It again sends a terrible signal to the rest of the world that it is just too difficult to get things done in Tasmania under the Labor-Green Government.” Mr. Hodgman said.

“In contrast the Liberals have a positive vision for a growing tourism sector.  We have set an ambitious goal of attracting 1.5 Million visitors per year by 2020, which the industry says will result in 8,000 extra jobs and an extra billion dollars in economic activity.”

“It’s clear that if you want to grow the tourism industry and change the economic direction of Tasmania, you have to change the Government.” Mr. Hodgman said.
