Men To Be Fined For Disobeying Total Fire Ban – Rossmore
Two men will be fined more than $1,000 each for disobeying a total fire ban after an allegedly deliberately lit fire was extinguished in Sydney’s South-West.
About 7.45 am yesterday, Green Valley Police and Rural Fire Service personnel were called to a property on King Street at Rossmore. Rural Fires Service personnel told Police the fires had occurred during a total fire ban and two men began to extinguish the fires once they saw fire fighters arrive.
Two Rossmore men, aged 44 and 50, will each be fined $1,100 for failing to comply with Ministers total fire ban direction period.
Green Valley Local Area Commander Superintendent Mark Szalajko said it was fortunate the fire was extinguished quickly.
“Such actions during the extreme weather conditions of the last 48 hours could have had far reaching consequences.” Superintendent Szalajko said.
