Appeal For Help After Hockey Stick Assault – Tamworth
Police are appealing for information after two men were assaulted and robbed at South Tamworth early this morning.
The incident happened between 4 am and 4.30 am when two men were walking along Arinya Street. They told Police a utility stopped and three men approached them and demanded one man’s Quiksilver-brand hoodie and his wallet.
The pair split up and ran but were caught and assaulted.
An 18-year-old man from Tamworth was chased by two men who beat him with a hockey stick before stealing his jumper and wallet.
The second man, aged 18 from Bendemeer, was punched in the face by a third man, but escaped with only minor injuries.
The injured man walked to his home and was taken to hospital by his father where he is being treated for suspected facial fractures and numerous cuts and bruises.
Police are searching for three men who they believe will be able to assist with inquiries into the assault.
The first man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 175 cm tall, with a medium build and dark hair. He was carrying a hockey stick.
The second man is described as being of white/European appearance, with a medium to slim build, blond hair, and at the time was wearing a short-sleeved top and football shorts.
The third man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a medium build and dark clothing.
The vehicle is described as a white Holden ‘Crewman’ utility with a hardtop canopy, white/black number plates, green ‘P’ plates, and no bulbar.
