South Australia Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond
SA ‘Nanny State’
Victor P Taffa
Isobel Redmond Leader of the Opposition said that Labor’s announcement to shut hotels, clubs, pubs, entertainment venues and premises from 4 am to 7 am is a backward step, securing South Australia’s reputation as a “Nanny State”.
“The City Centre should be a vibrant, fun, safe entertainment precinct with venues able to open as long as their licence permits.” Ms. Redmond said.
“A bright, safe entertainment precinct should be well policed with regular 24 hour foot patrols creating an attractive safe place to be for many locals and visitors to Adelaide.
“A few poorly behaved individuals should not dictate to the majority of the population how and where they can or cannot socialise.” Ms. Redmond said.
One of the slurs by people against Editor Victor P Taffa that Railway Lines causes problems for Police have always been a stretch of the truth. This argument never accounted for the large rock thrown at a Truck Driver that killed him on the M4 many years ago. This argument also extends to Bus Drivers in Labor heartland electorates near Blacktown.
The same argument that applies to Pub Trading Hours causes problems for Police whether it is in Adelaide or Sydney. This argument does not take into account the availability of alcohol from Bottle Shops and other outlets. The problem for Police lies in weak Labor Governments who have weak policies.
Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond makes a lot of sense in opposing attempts to shutdown Adelaide as an excuse to for the Rann Government trying to avoid its responsibilities in law and order.
