Police Issue Public Appeal For Assistance After Child Allegedly Assaulted – Brookvale

Police on Sydney’s Northern Beaches have appealed for public assistance after a teenage girl was assaulted at a Brookvale supermarket.

About 8pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 January), the 13-year-old girl and her father attended the supermarket inside a Cross Street shopping centre.

The girl’s father allowed her to go by herself to the confectionary aisle, where she was approached by an unknown man.

The man allegedly grabbed hold of the teenager’s arm and attempted to drag her along the aisle until a woman intervened.

The man let go of the girl who ran and located her father. They then searched the supermarket for the offender but could not locate him.

The pair returned home before alerting Police to the incident.

Officers from Northern Beaches Local Area Command attended the supermarket and conducted inquiries.

Police are now seeking public assistance to identify and locate the man. In particular, they wish to speak with the woman shopper who intervened in the alleged incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that might assist investigating officers is urged to contact Dee Why Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
