New South Wales Government has launched a new centre at TAFE NSW Ultimo to develop courses in collaboration with industry in the technology and business sectors to ensure students are equipped for exciting jobs of the future.

Minister responsible for TAFE NSW Adam Marshall officially launched the Technology and Business Services SkillsPoint in Ultimo. The SkillsPoint will bring together Australia’s largest education provider, TAFE NSW, with industry experts to build future facing courses for in-demand sectors such as cyber security.

“NSW Government is modernising TAFE to train the workforce of the future and ensure students have the skills they need to get a job which meets the needs of industry and the State’s booming economy.” Minister Marshall said.

“Investing in new projects such as the Ultimo SkillsPoint is a key part of this mission and will ensure our students are equipped to secure jobs in emerging industries such as cyber security, which is estimated to require 11,000 new professionals in the next 5 years.”

“Harnessing Sydney’s reputation as Australia’s technology and business services capital, this innovative new centre will develop courses for student’s right across the State, demonstrating the NSW Government’s commitment to high-quality, industry relevant training for people in the city and regional and rural NSW.”

Technology and Business Services SkillsPoint will specialise in pioneering new courses in critical areas such as cyber security, digitisation and risk management. The SkillsPoint will optimise TAFE NSW’s existing courses such as its Advanced Diploma in Network Security, while rolling out new courses like its Advanced Diploma and Certificate IV in Cyber Security.

These courses will then be delivered to students across the State through TAFE NSW’s renowned classroom learning, new Connected Learning Centres as well as online platform, TAFE Digital.

Ultimo is home to one of 9 SkillsPoints being rolled out across NSW.
