Latest export figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show Tasmania’s export figures reached near decade highs with $3.73 Billion of goods exported in the year to August 2018.

Tasmania’s economy continues to thrive with the nation’s largest annual export growth of 28.2 % compared to the previous year, Premier Will Hodgman said.

Over 80 % of Tasmanian goods exports were destined for Asia, with top export segments being mining and mineral products, as well as agriculture and seafood.

Tasmania’s Top 2 export destinations remained China and Malaysia with both markets representing $1.6 Billion worth of our total exports.

“These figures affirm the importance of the Government’s action to open up new markets for Tasmanian goods.” Premier Hodgman said.

“Hodgman Government remains steadfastly committed to opening new markets for Tasmanian businesses to export their world-class goods and services to create even more jobs.”

“By taking Tasmania to the world we can continue to remain competitive, open up new opportunities in global markets and cement relationships for Tasmanian businesses.” Premier Hodgman said.
