In a win for Tasmanian retailers and testament to the Hodgman Government’s Plan to grow the State’s economy, the Australian Bureau of Statistics has today confirmed retail trade is now a record $558 Million per month.

This is $100 Million more per month than when we came to Government in 2014, Treasurer Peter Gutwein said.

In the month of September 2019, retail trade in Tasmania grew at the second highest rate in the country, at 0.4 % in trend terms double the national growth rate of 0.2 % over the month.

“This is fantastic news for our retailers, particularly as they prepare for the busy summer season ahead.” Treasurer Gutwein said.

Tasmanian economy is ranked the second strongest in the nation, according to CommSec State of the States and our economy is growing the fastest in the country.

“Under a Hodgman Government 15,000 jobs have been created.”

“We know there is more to do to make sure all Tasmanians feel the benefit of a strong economy and that is why we are committed to delivering our Plan for Tasmania to invest in the infrastructure and essential services our growing state needs.” Treasurer Gutwein said.
