As the first weekend of the Sydney Royal Easter Show kicks off Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall has encouraged the community to get behind the event and show support for the State’s farmers.

“We all know and love the Sydney Royal Easter Show because it’s the greatest muster of our agricultural sector.” Minister Marshall said.

“It’s where the country and city meet in a wonderful celebration of food, fibre and good old-fashioned fun.”

“Past 12 months between Shows have been particularly hard on our farmers, with 99.5 % of the State still in drought and many communities bracing for a long dry winter ahead.”

“Show provides an opportunity for many country people to enjoy a well-earned break with like-minded people and the chance for city people to learn more about the way of life in the bush.”

“I encourage as many people as possible to visit the Show, say g’day to a farmer, check out their animal displays, and let them know you appreciate their work.”

Minister Marshall said the Show provides an important reminder of the resilience of our rural communities.

“Despite ongoing drought conditions, New South Wales primary industries reached an estimated output of $17.5 Billion in 2017-18.” Minister Marshall said.

“Our New South Wales rural communities boast an impressive body of primary producers and it’s through their efforts and innovations that we continue to maintain a competitive agricultural industry.”

Royal Easter Show runs from 12-23 April 2019.
