Police Recover Stolen Goods During Investigation Into Widespread Burglary Ring – Newcastle

Police have raided several properties recovering a stash of allegedly stolen goods, during an investigation into a string of burglaries in the Newcastle area.

Strike Force Bluewren was established by the Lake Macquarie Special Operations Group following numerous break and enter offences within the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle City and Central Hunter Local Area Commands over the past 12 months.

Officers executed two search warrants at homes in Charlestown and Mayfield yesterday seizing:

  • MP3 players,
  • Mobile phones,
  • Assorted jewellery,
  • Motor-cross gear
  • And other property allegedly linked to the break-ins.

Within the past two weeks, Police recovered four stolen motorbikes in bushland at Redhead, at a house at Marks Point and during a vehicle stop at Mayfield.

Another motorcycle was recovered by Police during the execution of a search warrant at Charlestown in October last year.

A 25-year-old man was charged with property offences at the time and the matter is currently before Newcastle Local Court.

Police have made significant progress in their investigations into the burglary ring and inquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with information that could assist Police is urged to contact Lake Macquarie detectives on (02) 4942 9999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
