South-West Bridges To Be Upgraded

Government Upgrading 11 Bridges Across The South-West

Transport Minister Simon O’Brien said today that Bunbury based firm Jonor Construction Pty Ltd had won a $1.1 Million Contract to refurbish 11 Timber Bridges through the South-West.

“The Refurbishment Work Includes Installing Concrete Overlays, Repairing the Bridges Substructure and Superstructure, as well as other Maintenance.” Mr. O’Brien said.

The Bridges are over:

  • Ferguson River on Boyanup and Picton roads, Bunbury;
  • Crooked Brook on Boyanup and Picton roads, Dardanup;
  • Harvey River Diversion on South Western Highway, Harvey;
  • Capel River on Goodwood Road, Capel;
  • Abba River on Tuart Drive, Busselton;
  • Lennox River Drain on Caves Road, Busselton;
  • Thompson Brook on Donnybrook-Kojonup Road, Donnybrook-Balingup;
  • Preston River on Mumballup Road, Donnybrook-Balingup;
  • Carbanup River on Vasse-Yalingup Siding roads, Busselton;
  • Murray River on Nanga Road, Murray;
  • Wellesley River on Devlin Road, Harvey.

“Funding is being provided by both the State and Local Governments.” the Minister said.

“The Refurbishment Works will help Prolong the Lifespan of the Bridges and Ensure Safety for Motorists.” Mr. O’Brien said.

Works are under way and are due for completion by mid-2011.
