South Australia Shadow Minister for Employment Iain Evans

SA Largest Decline In Job Advertisements

Victor P Taffa

South Australia has suffered the largest decline of all states in newspaper job advertisements in December, according to ANZ figures released today.

In December, job advertisements in newspapers fell 8.2 % in South Australia.

This compares to a fall of only 0.4 % in national job ads for December.

Compared to 12 months ago, job advertisements in newspapers fell by 22 % in South Australia.

The number of job advertisements in newspapers is about one third of what they were when the Labor Government was first elected.

“Job advertisements are an indication of employment intentions.” Shadow Minister for Employment Iain Evans said.

“Labor’s high debt, high tax policy is hurting employers which, in turn, hurts employees.”

“The decline in advertising is a vote of no confidence in the economy and the Government.”

“Labor’s high taxes and worst performing Workcover scheme in Australia are making employers think twice before employing.” Mr. Evans said.
