Victor P Taffa
The number of housing finance commitments in South Australia has declined.
ABS data released today show that in the last 12 months to February 2013, housing finance commitments in South Australia declined 1 %.
This has to be compared to the Australia wide increase of 2.7 %.
“South Australia has had a bad 6 months, with housing finance commitments declining 2.3 % (compared to the previous 6 months) which is the worst performance of all Australian States.” Shadow Treasurer Iain Evans said.
In the month of February there was a decline of 2.92 % from the previous month. South Australia was the only State to experience a decline in this month.
“These figures show that the South Australian housing sector is still struggling.” Mr. Evans said.
“Labor’s high debt model is making it difficult for consumers to invest in housing.”
“Premier Weatherill needs to explain why South Australia is underperforming compared to other states.” Mr. Evans said.
