Man Charged, Large Amount Of Prohibited Drugs Seized – Surry Hills
A man has been arrested and will face court after allegedly being found by Police in Surry Hills with a large amount of Prohibited drugs yesterday.
About 11 am (Friday 1 January), Police were conducting patrols of Campbell Street, Surry Hills when they spoke to a 39-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman who were sitting in the rear of a Silver Holden Commodore.
During the incident Police conducted a search of the vehicle, allegedly locating a large amount of Prohibited drugs including vials of a clear liquid believed to be GBH, white powder believed to be cocaine and approximately 590 tablets believed to be ecstasy.
Officers also allegedly located drug paraphernalia and an amount of cash.
The pair were arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station where the 39-year-old man from Smithfield was charged with:
- Three counts of possessing a Prohibited drug
- One count of Supply commercial quantity of Prohibited drug
- One count of Dealing with the proceeds of crime.
The man was refused bail and is expected to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
The 38-year-old Mount Pritchard woman was released without charge pending further investigations into the matter.
