Rosehill Police Release Safety Tips Following Increase In Thefts From Motor Vehicles

Rosehill Police are warning people to become more vigilant when it comes to security following an increase in the number of steal from motor vehicles across the command.

Over the past three months Police have noticed items such as GPS navigators, lap top computers and mobile telephones have been taken from cars parked near railway stations and car parks around Granville and Guildford areas.

Rosehill Local Area Commander Superintendent Gary Sims is hoping to encourage the community to become more safety conscious when it comes to securing their personal property in cars.

“We are finding car owners and users have become quite careless when it comes to theft prevention. I seek the assistance of the public in securing their vehicle and to immediately report anything suspicious in or around car parks.” Superintendent Sims said.

“Cars are frequently left unlocked and personal items are left within the vehicles.”

“If the community follows some basic safety measures we hope to reduce these types of thefts.”

Safety tips for members of the public:

  • Always lock and secure your vehicle
  • Never leave valuable items in the car
  • If you have to leave items in your car make all attempts to conceal them
  • Try and park in safe areas such as secure car parks and well lit areas
