Second Man Charged Over Largest MDP2P Seizure In Australia’s History – Asian Crime Squad

Asian Crime Squad detectives have this afternoon charged a second man following the seizure of drugs in 2007; the largest seizure of MDP2P by Police in Australia’s history.

Two men, aged 45 and 30, were recently transported to Sydney from Victoria before being taken to Parramatta Police Station today.

A 30-year-old man, a Singaporean National, has been charged with:

  • Supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drug,
  • Possess large commercial quantity of prohibited drug,
  • Participate in a criminal group/contribute to criminal activity,
  • Make false statement,
  • Use false instrument.

The man was been refused bail when he appeared at Parramatta Local Court this afternoon and where he was refused bail to re-appear at Parramatta Local Court on 25 March, 2010.

A 45-year-old Padstow man was charged this morning with:

  • Supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drug,
  • Possess large commercial quantity of prohibited drug,
  • Participate in a criminal group/contribute to criminal activity,
  • Make false statement,
  • Use false instrument.

The man was refused bail when he appeared at Parramatta Local Court this afternoon and where he was refused bail to re-appear at Parramatta Local Court on 25 March, 2010.

Both men were previously arrested in Geelong in December 2006 by Police from Victoria.

Today’s charges relate to the seizure of chemicals at an industrial complex on Victoria Street at Castle Hill in January 2007 during a joint NSW Police and Victoria Police operation.

Police located boxes containing about 1,900 litres of a chemical believed to be methylenedioxyphenyl-2propanone (MDP2P).

The chemicals were estimated to have the potential to make about two tonnes of ecstasy (MDMA), with an estimated street value of about $540 Million.

Strike Force Trentham comprised detectives from the State Crime Command Asian Crime Squad and was established in January 2007 to investigate the alleged possession and supply of prohibited drugs.
