Police Suspend Search For Missing Teen – Hunter Valley
Police have suspended the search for a missing male who disappeared at Lake Glenbawn in the State’s Hunter region after failing to find any sign of the teenager.
About 4 pm, Sunday 10 January, the 17-year-old boy was boating with friends on board a 3.7 Metre boat on Glenbawn Dam in the Lake Glenbawn State Park near Scone.
Police have been told that approximately 100 Metres West of the shore on the Eastern side, the teenager jumped into the water but did not resurface.
A search was conducted on Sunday afternoon by local Police, local boats, State Emergency Service volunteers and the Westpac rescue helicopter however the boy was not found.
Despite on-going searches by Police and other emergency services over the last two days, including the use of Police divers using sonar equipment, there has been no sign of the boy, and the search has now been suspended by Police.
State Emergency Service personnel will continue their searches throughout the week conducting regular patrols of the dam.
