North Adelaide Wins First Premiership Since 1991
Victor P Taffa
North Adelaide has won its first Premiership in 27 years and defeated Norwood by a margin of 19 Points.
In front of 40,355 people at Adelaide Oval North Adelaide gave their long-suffering supporters something to celebrate. Every time that Norwood kicked a goal, North Adelaide replied to keep Norwood at bay.
North Adelaide led by 5 Points at Quarter Time, 5 Points at Half Time, 5 Points at Three Quarter Time before winning by 19 Points in the Final Term.
Two times Magarey Medallist Mitch Grigg booted 6 goals for Norwood and is the first player to win the Jack Oatey Medal for Best on Ground in a losing side.
North Adelaide were last placed in season 2017 and scrapped into the Top 5 to claim successive victories against South Adelaide, Sturt and Eagles before defeating Norwood in the Grand Final.
Coming from last to first, North Adelaide are the first team to do this since 1964.
Surely this is a lesson for the Melbourne Demons AFL Team to take note of.
