Victor P Taffa

Education Minister Liz Constable has appointed Agricultural Region MLC Brian Ellis to the Chair of the Rural & Remote Education Advisory Committee (RREAC).

Dr. Constable said Mr. Ellis a Third Generation Farmer would bring great experience to the position.

“Brian worked closely with the Meekatharra School of the Air to have their new building allocated, and already has an established relationship with the Isolated Children Parents Association.” the Minister said.

“I am confident that he will bring an enthusiastic and well-grounded approach to his chairmanship of the committee.”

Mr. Ellis has a Regional Office in Geraldton, travels extensively throughout the Agricultural Region, and maintains a close link with the Moora district where his family farms.

Mr. Ellis will be joined on the committee by Hon Mia Davies MLC, who also represents the Agricultural Region. Members representing Local Government and the Mining Industry are yet to be appointed.

RREAC was created from a Ministerial Review in 1994, and its first chair was Hon Derrick Tomlinson MLC who conducted the inquiry.
