Transport Minister Simon O’Brien and South Metropolitan Region MLC Phil Edman have welcomed the addition of 75 New Parking Bays at Rockingham Railway Station.
Mr. O’Brien said the State Government was committed to building 3,000 new parking bays at stations along the Mandurah and Joondalup lines at a cost of $49.5 Million.
“In the lead-up to the last election I pledged that if elected, the Liberal-National Government would ensure more parking bays were built at Perth’s suburban railway stations.” Mr. O’Brien said.
“The Government, with the help of local Members of Parliament like Phil Edman, is delivering on that pledge with an extra 75 new bays successfully built at Rockingham.”
“The station’s Car Park will now hold 775 vehicles.” Mr. O’Brien said.
Mr. Edman welcomed the new bays and said the enhanced parking facilities would greatly assist those who currently battled daily for the existing number of parking spots.
“I am acutely aware of the pressures that are currently being placed on the station’s parking infrastructure.” Mr. Edman said.
“That is why I have been working with the Minister to ensure stations in the region I represent get their fair share of new parking bays.” Mr. Edman said.
