A Redmond Liberal Government will give all new South Australian apprentices $500 each towards the purchase of tools to commence their training.
Leader of the Opposition Isobel Redmond said that a Liberal Government will create a competitive business environment in SA but to do this there is a critical need to encourage young people to enter into apprenticeships.
“We will do this by offering practical assistance to ensure SA has an appropriately skilled workforce.” Ms Redmond said.
“From 1 July 2010 – 2011 the total assistance package will be $3 Million: $3 Million each year for the following three years totalling $12 Million over four years.

“I have previously announced initiatives that will encourage a competitive business environment in SA by:
- Cutting Land Tax by increasing the threshold to $300,000 from 1 July 2010;
- Cutting Payroll Tax by increasing the threshold to $650,000 from 1 July 2011& then $700,000 from 1July 2012;
- Exempting business from paying any payroll tax on wages of trainees and apprentices
“Today’s announcement continues to build on the SA Liberals’ commitment to SA business to provide a skilled workforce and a competitive business environment.” Ms. Redmond said.
