New Gisborne families will get the world-class local school their kids deserve, with a re-elected Andrews Government to deliver a massive upgrade to New Gisborne Primary School.

Premier Daniel Andrews visited the school with Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas today to announce Labor will invest $3.1 Million to transform the school’s tired old classrooms into modern learning environments, build new music rooms and upgrade the oval and outdoor learning areas.

New Gisborne Primary School’s old art room burnt down in 2011, devastating students, their families and school staff.

Construction of the new art room finished last year but there’s more to do and the Andrews Government will deliver the state-of-the-art facilities students and staff at New Gisborne Primary School need to achieve their best.

“We’ve already built a great new art room for kids at New Gisborne Primary School but there’s more to do and only Labor will deliver the modern facilities the students and their teachers deserve.” Premier Daniel Andrews said.

“As the local member, I promised a new art room for New Gisborne Primary School and Labor has delivered it but there’s more to do.” Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas said.

Andrews Government also today announced an $83,000 grant to install Solar PV panels at the school, allowing New Gisborne Primary School to reap the benefits of renewable energy.

Andrews Government has invested more than $3.8 Billion to build 70 new schools and upgrade 1,300 schools across the state since coming to office in 2014.

That means thousands of Victorian kids now go to school every day and learn in new classrooms with better technology and facilities, like new gyms and science labs. It’s also helped create 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians right around our state.
