Govt Bungling On Railway Shows They’re Not Up To The Job

Victor P Taffa

Deputy Opposition Leader Jeremy Rockliff said it’s clear from today’s meeting at Queenstown that the uncertain future of the Wilderness Railway is due to Government incompetence and bungling.

“There’s no doubt that the Government has known for months, if not years, that the railway was facing serious issues that the Government should have acted on.”

“Instead of worrying about the hundreds of direct and indirect jobs that could be affected by the railway closing down, the Government has been more worried about saving their own jobs.” Mr. Rockliff said.

“When Labor should have been trying to save the railway they were too worried about stitching up a deal to shut down the forestry industry and keep the Greens happy.”

“What this shows is that you simply cannot trust this Government to look after the best interests of Tasmania.” Mr. Rockliff said.
