Public Safety Put At Risk

Tasmania Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Management Elise Archer

Crime A Low Priority For Green-Labor Government

Victor P Taffa

Crime and public safety have become a low priority for the Green-Labor Government. Comments in today’s Examiner from the Police Association are very concerning.

It’s a simple fact that if you cut the number of Police more crimes will not be investigated, and we have seen this play out this week with the lowering of benchmarks, Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Management Elise Archer said.

“Tasmanians who are victims of crime deserve to have their case investigated as quickly as possible, not pushed to the side because Labor and the Greens can’t get their priorities right.”

“Cutting the number of Police is going to stretch the thin blue line to breaking point.  Police Minister David O’Byrne is chipping away at Tasmania’s public safety and every cut is doing damage to the community.” Ms. Archer said.

“The Liberals have found nearly $480 Million in savings and will reinvest in the frontline services that Labor and the Greens have decimated. The only way to fix the mess is to change the Government.” Ms. Archer said.
