Fast-tracked new government school at Zuccoli has reached a major milestone, with the appointment of principal Carolyn Edwards.

“Territory Government fast-tracked the construction of the Zuccoli Primary School by two years to cater for demand in Palmerston, the Northern Territory’s fastest growing region.” Minister for Education Selena Uibo said.

Ms. Edwards has led the northern suburbs’ Henbury School for the past 10 years and has twice been awarded Principal of the Year at the Northern Territory Teaching Awards.

New Zuccoli Primary School principal commences her position tomorrow, and will play a pivotal role in determining the year level offerings for Term 1, 2020, when the school is due to open.

“Palmerston is rapidly evolving into a standalone city, thanks to significant investment from the Territory Government in the recently opened Palmerston Regional Hospital, the $30 Million new Palmerston Police Station, the fast-tracked new fire station and the Zuccoli Primary School.” Member for Brennan Tony Sievers said.

Construction is well advanced on Stage 1 of the school, which includes a preschool with capacity for 88 students and eight primary school classrooms with capacity for more than 200 students.

“Territory Government is investing in Palmerston’s future, creating jobs and opportunities for the community.” Member for Drysdale Eva Lawler said.

$29 Million project is being built in 2 stages. Halikos Construction won the first stage, currently under construction, while tenders are being assessed for the second stage.
