Tasmania Opposition Leader Will Hodgman
Premier All Talk, No Action Over Delayed Cost Of Living Strategy
Victor P Taffa
Tasmanians suffering with cost of living pressures will have to keep waiting if they want help from this incompetent Green-Labor Government, Opposition Leader Will Hodgman said.
“Promised for release in June 2011, and then pushed to August, the Premier confirmed today that the much-hyped Cost of Living Strategy is still months away.”
“Tasmanians doing it tough are seeing the cost of living spiral out of control, with water and sewerage prices skyrocketing and the average power bill now 20 % more expensive than this time last year.”
“While Tasmanians are being forced to wait, the cost of living is escalating.” Mr. Hodgman said.
“If the Premier was serious about tackling cost of living pressures she would have adopted Liberal strategies already put on the table such as opening the electricity market to full competition to put downward pressure on power prices, and merging Tasmanian’s water corporations into one entity.”
“Tasmanians are hurting. They want to see leadership on cost of living issues from this Government, but instead they are getting nothing but talk.” Mr. Hodgman said.
