Search Continues For Missing Victorian Man – Broken Hill
Police will today continue their search for a Victorian man who went missing in scrubland near Broken Hill in the far west of New South Wales on Friday.
About 7 am, Friday 29 January, Police found the red coloured Mazda 3, belonging to 28-year-old Daniel Thomas Rosewall, abandoned on a dirt road approximately 50 km north of the township of Silverton after it had ran out of fuel.
Yesterday (Saturday 30 January) emergency services including:
- Police helicopter,
- Cessna plane,
- State Emergency Service volunteers,
- NSW Rural Fire Service,
- Local land owners.
Conducted an extensive air and ground search of the Silverton area for Mr. Rosewall.
There are serious concerns for Mr. Rosewall’s welfare and Police fear he has become lost in the barren scrubland where temperatures of 40 ° have been recorded.
Police do not believe Mr. Rosewall was equipped for the weather and terrain with the area being described as treacherous due to its remoteness and number of open mine shafts.
The search for Mr. Rosewall was suspended last night and will resume at 7 am today with Police and emergency services scouring an area near Eldee Station and the Barrier Ranges.
Police are appealing for anyone who has seen Mr. Rosewall in the last 72 hours to contact them.
He is described as white/European appearance, 178cm tall, with a medium build and short dark coloured hair. He was last seen wearing:
- Grey collared polo shirt,
- Dark coloured shorts,
- Black business shoes,
- Baseball cap featuring a “Sox” motif.
Anyone who has information that could assist Police and emergency services in finding David Rosewall is urged to contact Broken Hill Police on (08) 8087 0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
