Three Men In Court Following Alleged Mail Theft – Rhodes
Police have arrested and charged three men following the theft of mail from a unit complex at Rhodes in Sydney’s Inner-West yesterday.
About 6:05 am, Police attended Marquet Street, Rhodes after witnesses allegedly saw three men removing mail from letterboxes of a unit complex.
The men were observed to meet up at Rhodes Railway Station where they were stopped and spoken to by Police.
It will be alleged a car key was found on one of the men and fitted a Toyota Camry that was parked nearby.
During a search of the vehicle Police allegedly located a large amount of opened and unopened mail consisting of bank statements and new credit and debit cards in other people’s names.
The three men were arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where Police charged them with a total of 27 offences including:
- A 31-year-old Villawood man and a 34-year-old Chester Hill man each charged with five counts of goods in custody and six counts of appropriate mail receptacle.
- A 34-year-old Chester Hill man charged with six counts of appropriate mail receptacle.
All three men were refused bail and are expected to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
