Man Charged Over Taxi Driver Robbery – Chester Hill
Bankstown Detectives have arrested and charged a man over the assault and robbery of a taxi driver in August.
Following a widespread media appeal for information, detectives attached to Strike Force Halstead arrested the 19-year-old man at his home in Chester Hill about 8.30 am today.
The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was interviewed before being charged with armed robbery in company.
Police will allege a 60-year-old taxi driver had a knife held to his throat during the robbery on Saturday 1 August in Leicester Street, Chester Hill.
The man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later today.
Strike Force Halstead was formed to investigate robberies within the Bankstown Local Area Command.
Bankstown Detectives are keen to hear from members of the community with information about robberies within the Bankstown Local Area Command.
